Navigating Fostering Inclusion and Diversity in the Workplace Given The Recent Executive Orders

    Presented by:

    Brooke Corr, CM/F, SHRM-SCP
    The Peace Project Leadership Institute

As national conversations and legal landscapes around workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion continue to evolve, many organizations are facing uncertainty about how to move forward with their DEI efforts.

This important session, led by seasoned mediator and SHRM-SCP professional Brooke Corr, will provide context, legal insight, and practical guidance for maintaining inclusive and equitable practices in today’s environment.

What to Expect: This workshop will explore the recent Executive Orders and proposed legislation that have raised questions about the future of DEI initiatives in both public and private sectors. With clarity and care, Brooke will guide participants through:

    • The current legal status of Executive Orders and bills such as H.R. 9495

    • What these actions do—and do not—impact under the U.S. Constitution and Federal Civil Rights Law, including Title VII

    • SHRMs’ BEAM Framework (Belonging Enhanced by Access Through Merit) as a possible roadmap forward

    • Resources for continued learning and legal compliance

    • Tools to build inclusive cultures while minimizing risk

Participants will engage in thoughtful, collaborative discussion while gaining practical tools to foster inclusive workplaces that align with current legal standards.

About the Speaker and The Peace Project Leadership Institute

Brooke has over 40 years of business leadership, skill-building, coalition building, facilitation, mediation, and team-building experience. They earned their BSW, with honors, from the University of Montana, with an emphasis on communication, multicultural counseling, neuropsychology, and forgiveness and reconciliation. They are a Certified Mediator, Family Law Mediator, and Conflict Coach. They are also a SHRM Senior Certified Professional and also hold the SHRM Workplace Investigation Certification.

Most recently, Brooke was the Director of Synergistic Operations for EmpowerMT, where she also provided consultation, facilitation, skill-building, mediation, conflict interaction, and coaching services to people and entities across the United States. Due to increasing conflict, polarization and incivility, Brooke launched the PPLI in May of 2024.

Brooke finds great joy in meeting people where they are and finding ways to empower them to move themselves where they want to go. Brooke loves to hike, snowshoe, rockhound, play music, and watch people and plants grow.

The Peace Project Leadership Institute empowers Leaders at all levels to interrupt and diminish conflict, polarization and incivility while providing avenues for positive productive communication and inclusive collaborative problem solving. All skill buildings are experiential and participative without pressuring participants to participate outwardly.
