    2021 Mid-Year Legal Update

    Synopsis of this Presentation:

    • We will review the developments in state and federal employment and labor law through the first half of 2021 including:

    • Common employment law issues in the post-pandemic landscape, including issues related to vaccinations and statutory leave rights;

    • Common issues in calculation of regular rate of pay for non-exempt employees;

    • Changes at the NLRB and how they will impact employers in both union and non-union work environments;

    • Employee privacy laws and how they will impact employers;

    • Disability and pregnancy accommodation issues

    Participants will Learn:

    1. New laws that will impact employer/employee obligations

    2. How legal issues in the post-pandemic landscape will impact employers

    3. How to train managers to comply with the new and existing laws

    4. Need for possible revision of workplace policies

    5. How new laws interact with previous laws

    About the Presenters:

    Attorney Brett Sutton is the founder of Sutton Hague Law Corporation. With over 30 years of experience, Mr. Sutton counsels clients on labor and employment law matters and aggressively represents clients in litigation of employment law and business-related cases before federal courts, state courts and administrative agencies. He is admitted to practice law in both Nevada and California.

    In 2016 Brett was inducted as a Fellow in the prestigious College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. He has drafted legislation and lobbied before the Nevada Legislature including providing testimony regarding pending legislation.  He is a member of the Nevada Restaurant Association Board of Directors and in 2014 received an award from that industry group for his legal advocacy on behalf of the Nevada restaurant industry. 

    He is a Contributor and Editorial Reviewer of the leading legal treatise entitled, “California Practice Guide: Employment Litigation (The Rutter Group).”  Brett has trained thousands of individuals in a wide variety of employment law matters and is a frequent speaker to industry and professional groups. 

    Attorney Jared Hague is a partner at Sutton Hague Law Corporation with 15 years of experience in counseling clients on labor and employment law matters and aggressively representing clients in litigation of employment law and business-related cases before federal and state courts and administrative agencies, with particular focus on large scale wage and hour class action and complex litigation. Jared also provides frequent training to employers on a variety of employment law matters. He is admitted to practice law in both Nevada and California. For many years, Brett and Jared have conducted monthly webinars that address labor and employment law topics for California and Nevada employers, which have included guest speakers from EEOC, DOL, NLRB, Nevada Equal Rights Commission, California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, and Labor Commissioners of California and Nevada.
